If you’re craving a spooky experience outside of October, look no further than the Winchester Mystery House. Located in San Jose in Northern California, this creepy, 160-room mansion is known for its eerie history and unusual architecture, which includes staircases that lead to nowhere, trapped doors, closets that open to blank walls, and other curious designs. The structure and history is so interesting that in 2018 an official film, Winchester, was released on the subject matter. Winchester Mystery House hosts tours all year long, and have something extra creepy planned in lieu of their special candlelight tours during the Fall season.
For the first time ever, the Winchester Mystery House will launch an immersive, walk-through horror attraction called “Unhinged,” where audiences should prepare to be become unhinged on a psychological, mind-bending experience. Produced by ThemeDream Productions, “Unhinged” will have patrons “trespass into forbidden room of the house – never before seen on public tours – confront malicious spirits, and encounter terrifying scenes that will reveal the home’s twisted tales and secrets.”

As if that wasn’t reason alone to plan a trip to Winchester, visitors can enjoy an all-new 3D light projection show using the home’s unique architecture as a canvas produced by Paintscaping in the Estate’s front gardens, and there will also be a giant gothic edible replication of the Winchester Mystery House from Netflix’s Christine McConnell on display in the Mercantile.
