Who remembers when #DearDavid was trending on Twitter last year? The viral, allegedly true story, was posted by BuzzFeed writer Adam Ellis who claimed a dead child – Dear David – was haunting him and his apartment.
Ellis documented the haunting via Twitter and through his updates, quickly gathered a large following. He even caught photo and video evidence of the ghost child he claims to have been haunting him. As of recently, updates have died down and while readers are rooting for Ellis to rid his apartment of the ghost, the gripping Twitter-saga is dearly missed.
Now, “fans” can get a bit of relief as the eerie story is being turned into a feature-length film! Buzzfeed Studios is partnering with Dan Lin (producer of IT) to produce the film, and will be working with screenwriter Mike Van Waes (writer of The Conjuring spinoff, The Crooked Man). While there are currently minimal details available about the project, it will no doubt be added to our must-see list!
While the story is enticing, the question still remains… is Dear David an authentic story of a haunting or a modernized method bringing an idea brought to life? Either way… we’re hooked.
