THL Presents 31 Days of Halloween – 2019

September is basically Halloween Eve, so that means it’s time for The Haunt List’s 31 Days Of Halloween! With so many spooky attractions and events happening in SoCal, we’ve put together a list of some of our top ‘must-see’ haunts, theatre experiences, spooky events, horror-themed escape rooms, and more, giving you something Halloween-y to do every day of the month! #THL31Days

Most of these haunts and activities are open select days throughout the month (some are year-round!), so make sure to visit their site for additional dates and information. While we’ve included brief descriptions and age suggestions, we also recommend visiting each attraction’s website for age, health and mobility restrictions.

*Saturday, September 28 – Roger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique: Malice in Wonderland
Corona del Mar, CA This year at Roger’s Gardens, follow the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole to experience Malice in Wonderland, a labyrinth full of strange and impossible dĂ©cor to fill your home for Halloween.

Los Angeles, CA — Kick the season off right with a spooky themed brew fest in the Arts District. Shop local vendors, enjoy live entertainment, get a personalized tarot reading, snap pictures at photo ops and much more!

*Tuesday, October 1 – The Evil Dead Immersive Experience at Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum
Burbank, CA This immersive Evil Dead popup features original props on display for the first time, photo ops and a tribute art show!

*Wednesday, October 2 – Best Halloween Store Ever
Thousand Oaks, CA This 30,000 sq ft retail store specializes in the best Halloween/themed props and decorations. New for 2019, you can purchase tickets for their interactive experience with immersive scenes and photo ops.

*Thursday, October 3 – Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights
Universal City, CA — Visit Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights for 80s Throwback Thursdays! Guests are invited to sport their finest decade-worthy attire trends, from leg warmers and high waisted jeans to scrunchie hair ties, fanny packs and shoulder pads. On top of the regularly scheduled mazes (Us, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Ghostbusters and more!), Throwback Thursdays will include a not-so-friendly welcome from Chucky himself, a live tribute band and DJ dance party hosted by Beetlejuice, classic ‘80s music videos and songs played throughout the event as well as themed food.

*Friday, October 4 – Force of Nature presents Fallen Saints
North Hollywood, CA — What’s worse – the unknown force causing terror in the small town of Salem…or the terror itself? Force of Nature Productions presents the next chilling chapter in their Fallen Saints Theatrical Haunt series: SALEM.

*Saturday, October 5 – Knott’s Scary Farm
Buena Park, CA — As night falls, Knott’s Berry Farm turns into Knott’s Scary Farm: the largest Halloween experience in Southern California with menacing mazes, sinister shows, thrill rides and more, plus over 1,000 monsters roaming the park and lurking in the fog. New attractions this year include Wax Works and Origins: The Curse of Calico mazes as well as the Puppet Up! – Uncensored show.

*Sunday, October 6 – Sinister Pointe’s MIST
Westminster, CA — Sinister Pointe returns this Halloween season with an all-new, heart-pounding, immersive adventure. MIST is a 30 minute free-roaming, scavenger hunt style, immersive haunt that allows guests to use their own strategy, all while being hunted!

*Monday, October 7 – Freeform’s Halloween House
Los Angeles, CA — This spooky celebration brings to life the worlds of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus and so much more. It’s an immersive experience celebrating some of the most iconic Halloween movies ever, featuring an interactive Halloween Town, the Sanderson Sisters’ cottage & Oogie Boogie’s lair of games and prizes.

*Tuesday, October 8 – Screamfest 
Hollywood, CA — Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest and longest running horror film festival in the United States! The 2019 Festival will be held at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters on the 3rd floor of the Hollywood & Highland Center.

*Wednesday, October 9 – Escape Hotel Hollywood
Hollywood, CA — The world’s largest escape venue, built in the style of a 1930’s ghostly hotel, where each room leads you to a magical place. The moment you step inside, you will journey back in time and space to the golden era of Hollywood, where every room will take you to a different journey.

*Thursday, October 10 – Welcome to Haddonfield 5 at SugarMynt Gallery
South Pasadena, CA — SugarMynt Gallery is located in South Pasadena, CA, the filming location for the 1978 horror classic, Halloween. The art gallery is behind the original Michael Myers house, and walking distance from many of the filming locations. Welcome to Haddonfield 5 features behind the scenes photographs of Halloween 1 & 2 by Kim Gottlieb-Walker and fan art related to the Halloween films.

*Friday, October 11 –  Zombie Joe’s URBAN DEATH Tour of Terror
North Hollywood, CA Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group is back with their cult horror hit, Urban Death. The Tour of Terror expands on the show, adding a haunted attraction before and after the performance where you’re taken through a pitch black maze with nothing but a flashlight. In an extremely intimate setting, attendees are treated to a terrifying theatre performance and with the disturbing skits and overall uneasy vibe, this show is unlike any other we’ve experienced.

*Saturday, October 12 – TERROR DTLA
Los Angeles, CA — From the Director and Co-Producer of 2017’s NIGHT SHIFT DTLA, Robert Decker crafts creatively haunting experiences. It includes immersive interaction and some escape room puzzles. This year’s haunted house will render you powerless to speak…

*Sunday, October 13 – Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest
Valencia, CA
At night, Six Flags Magic Mountain transforms into Fright Fest with mazes, scare zones, and the stuff of nightmares lurking around every corner of the park. Make sure to visit the massive scale Aftermath 2 maze!

*Monday, October 14 – Maze Rooms: They’re Coming
Culver City, CA — The undead have risen in the heart of Los Angeles where your group, unfortunately, decided to do a simple fun escape room. But now, the government has quarantined your entire surroundings so leaving is no longer an option. Your only chance is to find shelter, barricade yourselves in and get help before “they” get you.

*Tuesday, October 15 – Natural History of Horror: The Science of Scary
Los Angeles, CA — We have a strange curiosity for mysterious, eerie, and grotesque monsters. No wonder they are the main characters that give us that intense, heart-pounding burst of adrenaline that only horror movies can provide. Behind-the-scenes many of our favorite iconic monsters from the big screen are inspired by science and the natural world. Discover Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Creature from the Black Lagoon, through science, history, and the art of film-making.

*Wednesday, October 16 – CREEP LA: HAUS OF CREEP
Los Angeles, CA — CREEP L.A. returns this fall, presented by Just Fix It Productions, welcoming all into their fifth installment: HAUS OF CREEP. The event will immerse guests in a bizarre and shocking world where reality and performance art blur together. Watch the captivating trailer HERE.

*Thursday, October 17 – Nights of the Jack
Calabasas, CA Nights of the Jack is a Halloween Jack O’ Lantern experience tailored for all ages. The show features thousands of hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins, including some larger than life pumpkin installations as well as detailed artist depictions of your favorite movie stars, sports heroes and animated characters. This half mile long trail is self-guided, and guests usually spend at least an hour viewing all the fantastic pumpkin art.

*Friday, October 18 – Murder House Productions: Wendigo & Reign of Terror
Thousand Oaks, CA — Take a trip to Thousand Oaks to hit these two amazing haunts in the same evening!

MHP: Wendigo – It can hear the fear in your heart and smell the blood in your veins. You try to run but your fate falls prey to its ever-lasting hunger. The spirit of The Wendigo possesses Murder House Productions home haunt in an all new heart-pounding haunted attraction.

Reign of Terror105 bone chilling rooms, 8 different attractions, and over 23,000 square feet of fear! If that alone doesn’t hook you, this year also hosts two brand new attractions, Containment and Widows Den. While there is no age restriction, bringing babies, or forcing terrified children through the haunted house is discouraged.

*Saturday, October 19 – Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
Los Angeles, CA — This year, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride will transform the Griffith Park grounds into Midnight Falls, an eerie and mysterious fictitious village set in 1985, where time stands still and it is always Halloween. Every scare zone, maze, ride, character, set and narrative has been re-imagined for 2019.

*Sunday, October 20 – Rotten Apple 907
Burbank, CA – This family-run home haunt has been in operation since 1990, and has grown into one of the most well-known home attractions in the area. This year’s theme is The Death Triangle.

*Monday, October 21 – 10 Years of Blumhouse: From Paranormal Activity to Get Out and Beyond
Los Angeles, CA — To celebrate Blumhouse’s tenth anniversary, the USC School of Cinematic Arts is proud to exhibit a curated selection of props, costumes, photography, and artwork, from across dozens of Blumhouse productions, from Monday, August 26th – Sunday, December 8th, 2019 in the Hugh M. Hefner Exhibition Hall.

*Tuesday, October 22 – Pumpkin Nights
Pomona, CA — Venture along a half-mile walking path, where you’ll discover the Forbidden Pumpkin City, a pirate’s cove, and more fantastical lands built using over 3,000 hand-carved real and artificial pumpkins. The celebration continues with entertainment and games in Pumpkin Central.

*Wednesday, October 23 – The Scream Zone
Del Mar, CA — San Diego County’s largest haunted experience, The Scream Zone is considered among the goriest, scariest, and screaming-est fright fests to be found in the dark corners of Southern California. The Scream Zone is assembled from a collection of body parts and roughly stitched together into three terrifying haunts and other monstrous attractions.

*Thursday, October 24 – Delusion: Alt Delete
Los Angeles, CA — Based off the hit interactive play Delusion: The Blue Blade, creator Jon Braver weaves a spin-off chapter from the epic saga. Rogue scientist Evelyn Lowell, wielding the famed Blue Blade, created a black market time travel business. Professor Lowell is as elusive as she is wealthy, but every tear in time she creates for her clients leaves a path for pursuers. And there are plenty. Covering Evelyn’s tracks is the job of her Underwriters; assessors of danger and eliminators of risk. There’s been a breach in Professor Lowell’s Computer Lab in 1982. Time to do your job.

*Friday, October 25 –  Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor 
Long Beach, CA — Head to the notoriously haunted Queen Mary for its annual Halloween haunt, Dark Harbor. It features 6 haunted mazes (including new maze for 2019, Rogue), a 4D theater experience, hundreds of monsters, immersive attractions, live entertainment, hidden themed bars and more to get you in the spooky holiday spirit!

*Saturday, October 26 – Rated R at The Santa Monica Pier Carousel House
Santa Monica, CA — Rated R is taking the party from their secret speakeasy location in Glendale and bringing it to the Santa Monica Pier Carousel House for a special event. Rated R at the Santa Monica Pier Carousel House will feature all the macabre madness, titillating terrors, and scintillating cinema that guests have come to know and love from the speakeasy, but will be adding to the program a Halloween Costume Contest, special guests, exciting surprises and horror giveaways!

*Sunday, October 27 – Twisted Minds Productions SALEM: Escape the Coven
San Gabriel, CA — This Halloween, Twisted Minds Productions brings to life its most twisted attraction yet, SALEM: Escape the Coven, an actual maze of twisting paths, dead ends, and surprises around every corner. You are Salem’s last hope, will you make it out of the coven alive?

*Monday, October 28 – Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch
Culver City, CA A family-owned and operated business focusing on bringing the farm to the city and celebrating the magic of Halloween by offering high-quality pumpkins and a fun-filled family experience. This family-friendly experience has a straw maze, petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, and more!

*Tuesday, October 29 – The 17th Door
Fullerton, CA — Follow along with Paula for part four of her ongoing saga at Perpetuum Penitentiary, in The 17th Door: Fearless. Get ready for an extreme and very interactive haunt experience unlike anything you’ve tried before! Be warned — the actors WILL touch you and there are intense scenes. Make sure to read the waiver before purchasing a ticket.

*Wednesday, October 30 – House of Spirits LA
Los Angeles, CA — Step inside the House of Spirits — a haunted cocktail soiree that is unlike any other party in town! Freely roam a mysterious mansion and experience a night of themed cocktails, macabre magic, sinister sĂ©ances, tarot readings, strange roaming specters, live music, hidden secret games, giant Ouija boards and more.

*Thursday, October 31 – Oingo Boingo Former Members @ Saban Theater
Beverly Hills, CA — Oingo Boingo Dance Party features former members of the legendary new wave group Oingo Boingo. Fans can expect to hear a number of Oingo Boingo hits including “Dead Man’s Party,” “Weird Science,” “We Close Our Eyes,” and many more. To quote legendary DJ Richard Blade of The World Famous KROQ and SiriusXM’s 1st Wave fame, Oingo Boingo Former Members remains, “the best Oingo Boingo band until Hell freezes over.”

*Friday, November 1 – The Dreich Society: Fear Fest ‘89
Ontario, CA — This home haunt will take you on a blast from the past as you experience some of the 80’s most popular horror films including Evil Dead II, The Shining, Aliens, Poltergeist and Friday the 13th Part 3.

*Saturday, November 2 – The Seance
Anaheim, CA — An interactive theatre experience by Cross Roads Escape Games. Madam Ruby has invited you and a few guests to participate in her SĂ©ance and step beyond the veil. But who or what will be waiting for you? This is a frightening interactive theatre experience with live actors and special effects. You will be required to interact with your surroundings and others, living or dead, in the room.

*Sunday, November 3 – The Brimstone Asylum at Coffin Creek
Corona, CA — Open this October for their 12th year of fear! Features 5 haunted attractions and the Dark Shadow Marketplace, all in one terrifying location.
