First we had The Conjuring, then we had Annabelle, and now we have a first look at The Nun. We are introduced to The Nun through a scene in The Conjuring 2, when an eerie painting of the demonic Sister comes to life and attacks Lorraine Warren.
“When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in ‘The Conjuring 2,’ as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”
While The Nun will be the fifth installment in The Conjuring franchise, chronologically it will come first as a prequel to both The Conjuring and Annabelle series.
The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy, produced by James Wan (director of The Conjuring movies) and Peter Safran (producer of The Conjuring movies), written by Gary Dauberman and James Wan, and stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu and Bonnie Aarons.
The Nun hits theaters on September 7, 2018.
