Ok… WHAT is going on in Hellier, Kentucky? Planet Weird’s original five part docuseries HELLIER hopes to answer this burning question, following a string of inconceivable synchronicities that lead a team of ghost hunters to a small, forgotten coal mining town.

Now, before you try and categorize this as another Ghost Adventures episode, this film is much more strange and eerie than your standard ‘ghost hunting’ documentary. We’ve only seen the first two episodes of HELLIER upon writing this, but it is in line with what you could expect from watching a real life episode of X-Files.

The story begins when ghost hunter Greg Newkirk receives a spine-chilling email from a man named David, who claims that he and his family are being terrorized by “creatures” coming from an abandoned coal mine their house. Once Greg is convinced and willing to try and help this man if he can, David is never heard from again. Drawn to the story, Greg puts together a small team to travel to Hellier to see if they can find any information about David and the origins of his story. What they find is much more intriguing… that David’s experience is at all not specific to him. Nearly everyone in this small town has a story of paranormal happenings, or tales of what were more commonly known as the “Hellier goblins.”

Seven years in the making, HELLIER investigates seemingly impossible correlations and bears the question, What is really happening in this quiet, forgotten town?
