Zombie Joe's Urban Death Show flyer

REVIEW | Zombie Joe’s Urban Death: Tour of Terror

If you’re lucky enough to experience the Halloween season in Los Angeles, you know that there are endless options of attractions to choose from… but there is nothing quite like Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre. The theatre group puts on a number of shows year-round, but Urban Death: Tour of Terror is their yearly Halloween event.

The small theatre is transformed into a dark maze, where your small group is led only by a dim and flickering handheld blacklight. A frightening scene awaits you at the end of each corner until you reach the end of the maze, which opens to the intimate floor-level stage. The room goes completely black and eerie music and sounds transport you into the world of Urban Death.

The collection of short skits does an impressive job of pulling out intense emotions. The scenes are scary, funny, and outright gross. You’re also sure to see a lot of nudity and sexual themes throughout the show (suitable for 18+). As soon as one scene ends, you’re at the edge of your seat eager to see what the next scene will be. The actors are truly incredible and the way ZJU manipulates what you can see and hear can really make some of their illusions feel real.

Once the show is finished, you filter back out through the maze with a new set of scenes awaiting at every corner. After the show, you’ll likely see the ZJU actors + crew, and Zombie Joe himself there to greet you and hear your opinion of the show. It’s well worth the experience and something to attend at least once.

Urban Death Tour of Terror is open October 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30 & 31

Tickets are available here (https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/zombiejoes/4552) for $22.
