This Christmas has given me a ton of cheer. Most importantly, bloody Christmas movies that have been gracing the holidays as of late such as Violent Night & Christmas Bloody Christmas. Now, Full Moon Features is ready to chop and hack with their next movie. The 12 Slays of Christmas is about a trio of lovely young ladies who get their car stuck in a snowstorm. They take shelter in a looming Gothic manor, lorded over by a sinister old man. As their host sits them down for a lavish Holiday feast, ghastly gifts and terrifying tales are unleashed and soon the women wonder if they’ll live to see another Christmas!
Now, I didn’t read the synopsis or know anything else about it until I pressed play. I was surprised to find that the 12 short stories feature a slew of Full Moon creatures that have previously graced the screen. So you have small stories about the well-known Full Moon characters such as The Gingerdead Man, Evil Bong, Blades, and Leech Woman, just to name a few. Unlike Sorority Babes in The Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2, I found the manor set to look really nice (and not cheap). Seems like they definitely put more money into this production. They used footage from previous Full Moon movies and they all looked really good except for the footage they used for The Gingerdead Man (during that story, they used footage from the first one and it looked the worst. Like they only had an SD DVD transfer). The footage they used for the other stories were made with really clean transfers, especially the Puppet Master segments. Before I wrap up, I want to say I enjoyed the performances of the 3 women and the owner of the Full Moon Manor, Ignatius. These characters kept the movie afloat and I was surprised by the ending!
With a runtime of 41 minutes . . . you read that right, I really enjoyed this little movie especially since I want to dive into the earlier Full Moon Features. I’ve only seen the first Gingerdead Man and the first 2 Puppet Master movies but The 12 Slays of Christmas really got me into the mood to watch the rest of those series and more.
