Smack in the heart of Tinseltown lies HOLLYWOOD & VAMP, a sneaky little Halloween treat that is 50% immersive theater, 50% rock show and 100% a good time! We only found out about this event a week before attending, and we are so glad we were able to make it in time to share. This limited event runs for only 4 nights total, with the final two dates happening next week.

Upon entering The Bourbon Room, you’ll make your way up either the stairs or the elevator to find that the story has already begun. Fans of immersive powerhouses CREEP L.A. and Delusion should know what to do. For those that are new to immersive events, HOLLYWOOD & VAMP is a great stepping stone as the interactions aren’t excessively personal or too intimidating. The key is to mingle. Survey your surroundings, make friends, ask questions, maybe even eavesdrop on some conversations. As you may have guessed by the name, there are an awful lot of vampires in Queen Theda’s bar. As you meet some of them, you’ll begin to learn the chain of command, and you’ll maybe even uncover the special ‘surprise ingredient’ in the bar’s signature cocktail. 

After spending a good amount of time in the bar/lounge, it will be time to hit the showroom. We’d suggest making your way closer to the stage. We sat near the ‘live nudes’ sign which was already fun as it was and ordered some dinner (Chicken caesar salad & Beyond Burger with fries are THL approved!). From there we were treated to an epic rock show complete with a live band playing shout-along anthems, go-go & pole dancing, and the eventual collapse of the truce between bloodsuckers and daywalkers. If that doesn’t sound like a great night out in Hollywood in October, I don’t know what does.

The location was picture perfect and we were very impressed to see that HOLLYWOOD & VAMP’s immersive actors were on par with those at veteran events. They handled improvisation and crowd control well, especially for opening night. A planted ‘guest’ nearly even had us fooled (and also turned out to be a highlight of the evening). The drinks were strong, the food was delicious, the music was fun, the dancers were on fire. I usually like to include constructive criticism when possible, but my only ask here would be to extend this show and also open some weekend dates. This surprise event has turned out to be one of our favorites of the 2021 season.
