REVIEW | Cemetery Lane: Trick-R-Treat Experience

Who doesn’t love trick-r-treating? For most of us spooky fanatics, this was our first big Halloween experience – venturing out into the world, showing off our costumes, and returning home with a pail full of candy. In Los Angeles, reliving this experience can be a challenge. Where do you even find the block of houses with the good candy? Cemetery Lane makes trick-r-treating simple and fun, and is easily one of the most family-friendly spooky experiences available in SoCal. You can even trick-r-treat as an adult!

This year, we attended Cemetery Lane’s media night and couldn’t be more delighted. The event takes place at Heritage Square, an outdoor museum featuring eight manors built during the Victorian Era. Each house is uniquely decorated, emulating Halloween night in the 50s and 60s, the same era in which we saw the rise of the Addams Family, the Munsters, and the Twilight Zone. Rumor has it that some of the houses might even be…haunted!

Getting to the Cemetery Lane grounds was seamless. The Heritage Square stop on the Gold Line drops you right in the shared, free parking lot and although we opted to drive, we may brave the train next year! Upon arriving, you’re provided with a candy bag, where you can then make your way through each of the 13 trick-r-treat stops. Most stops have fun, character interactions, and the grounds also have games, an impressive “pumpkin patch”, photo-ops, a child-size maze, a movie area, a shop of spooky vendors, and an assortment of food and drink vendors. We definitely recommend getting yourself a themed match mocktail from Matcha Monsters!

We were extremely impressed by the overall production of the event, though we couldn’t be too surprised since Cemetery Lane is put on by Black Cat Orange, who is most-well known as the team(s) behind Midsummer Scream, Spooky Swap Meet, and Seasons Screamings, with decor and effects by Jeff Schiefelbein of Sinister Pointe Haunted Attraction.

It was so refreshing to be surrounded by families and guests of all ages decked out in costumes and other Fall-inspired attire, trick-r-treating in a safe and spooky environment. While Cemetery Lane suggests guests can expect a 45-minute to an hour-long experience, we loved it so much that we stayed for 2 hours. This is a great environment for children, or a spooky date night!

This Halloween weekend is your last chance to check out Cemetery Lane this season! Grab tickets and more information at www.CemeteryLane.com.
