Inside the Box‘s Tribeca Festival selected immersive experience is BACK with an all-new sci-fi
horror show coming to LA in October 2024 — SLEEPWALKR 2.0.
Be transported to 2044 Los Angeles, where a hot new underground form of entertainment is popping up in secret locations throughout the city: dreamscape immersion. Over time, MRI technology has progressed to the point where we can observe the dreams of others, thanks to SLEEPWALKR Industries and their patented tech. While not available on the public market, internal spies within the medical community have used their intel to get their hands on a few select SLEEPWALKR machines, selling them off to clandestine entertainment troupes known by a hush-hush few as “dream exhibitors.” Everyday folks pay to enter these secret exhibition spaces and plunge deep into the dreamscapes of others, providing them with a psychedelic and otherworldly somnaural experience. Come and enter a few dreamscapes won’t you? The Sandmen Collective, the most popular and successful of the city’s dream exhibitors, is here to provide you with the opportunity.
Meet three new dreamers, with three unique stories.
Dream #1 – THE SUPERMARKET
Happy Holidays! It’s an excessively violent Black Friday at Q-Mart, and all Parker wants to do is clock in for their shift. Unfortunately, these particular customers are proving to be QUITE difficult, and workaholic Parker has got to keep this job by any means necessary.
Dream #2 – THE BATTLE
Joe lands smack dab in the middle of an unknown war. Where is he? Which side is he on? What are the sides to begin with? Well, not much time to think as it seems his submarine suffered quite the blow, and this leak is only getting worse…
Dream #3 – THE FOREST
Chloe’s trapped in a dark, never-ending wood, and she swears that someone– or something– is deliberately stalking her. If that already wasn’t concerning enough, she’s been having this dream over and over again– and each time, the figure gets just a little… bit… closer to reaching her. Don a sleep mask and a pair of headphones and take a seat as a 50-minute-long show envelops you within the abstract, experimental storytelling of three dreamers’ subconscious minds via expertly mixed 360-degree immersive audio and live sensory effects– all the while being trapped in complete darkness. Will the next dream be ethereal, emotional, horrifying, hilarious? Prepare for twists and turns aplenty. This is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced in your reality. Experience various intimately tailored sensory effects, including but not limited to: flashing lights, smoke, water, scents, dramatic temperature changes, loud noises, and brief moments of physical contact with performers. Guests must sign a waiver to participate.
SLEEPWALKR 2.0 is presented by co-creators Sam Kellman and David Coleman. Sam operated The Opechee Haunt for over a decade, creating experiences such as TOUR, The Donnie Darko Experience, and Jack’s Halloween JamBOOree, having most recently creative directed the immersive theatre show Within Our Walls (2022), as well as the first edition of SLEEPWALKR (2023) under Inside the Box Productions. David has previously worked with The Opechee Haunt and Twisted in creating numerous haunted attractions, branching off into his own Exquisite Corpse Horror Media in recent years, producing installations such as 2022’s Redwater. He’s since collaborated with Inside the Box on 2023’s SLEEPWALKR experience. With backgrounds in writing, filmmaking, production design, and audio production, Sam and David both bring their expertise to the table, providing their live experiences with a memorable cinematic edge.
