Fall’s First Haunts

October is right around the corner and you know what that means — haunt season is here! If you’re like us and simply can’t wait for October to get your scare on, check out these four Southern California haunts that open as early as tomorrow! Haunting in September will typically get you some of the best prices and shortest lines, along with freeing up more time in October for haunting fun.

Enjoy!

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood

This haunt opens September 15th and trust us when we say September is the time to go. Located in Universal City, CA, Halloween Horror Nights is one of the larger and more popular haunts. The closer it gets to Halloween, line wait times can get up to two hours! We suggest grabbing your ticket as soon as possible so that you have time to see all the mazes and ride attractions at night!

Knott’s Scary Farm

At night Knott’s Berry Farm turns into it’s spooky counterpart, Knott’s Scary Farm. Similar to our last listing, this haunt gets super crowded the closer it gets to Halloween, so we advise grabbing your tickets soon! If you have time to get through all of the extremely impressive large-scale mazes, the park also has a number of rides open at night and features a show from Elvira (this year being her last). Located in Buena Park, CA opening night of this haunt is September 21st.

The 17th Door

You’ll be signing a waiver for this one! While we know this year’s story is a continuation of the haunt’s two previous years, we still don’t know much about what to expect! Last year involved safe words, disturbing smells, touching, insects, shocking, and more. This year offers an intriguing virtual reality option and likely more of what the haunt is known for. Every time we’ve been present there has been a line down the block, so get tickets early! This haunt is located in Fullerton, CA and opens on September 22nd.

Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor

Honestly, any excuse to go to the Queen Mary is a good one, but this is our favorite reason to head to Long Beach. An all-ages appropriate haunt, this one is always a good time. They have a number of mazes and a few of the routes even take you on to the ship itself. Even if you can’t make it through all the attractions, the ticket is definitely worth the price. Again, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor gets pretty packed, even early on, so get there for its opening night on September 28th.
