This volunteer-run community haunt in Burbank, CA doesn’t have the big budget sets and lighting design that some of the professional builds have, but it easily makes up for that with fun, high-energy actors, amazing DIY props, and a lot of heart! Guests are guided through in small groups as the attraction unfolds scene-by-scene. Some even included great voiceover stories to set the tone. The actors seemed to really take ownership of their respective scenes, investing their creativity and personality into their roles. Some were scary, some were sassy, and some were even a little silly, all of which worked together to keep guests on their toes. Another place where this haunt shined was their use of lesser-done concepts, such as a visit to the Baba Yaga (of Slavic folklore), and a shaman who helped us connect with our animal spirits.

Cursed Creek has a couple intense moments but no gore so would be appropriate for big kids and tweens. If you’re local to the area, we’d definitely suggest including A Place to sCARE’s Cursed Creek in your spooky season plans.
